AISES of Arizona State University is located at the Tempe campus. It is 1 of 22 chapters that represent Region 3, which consist of AZ, NM, UT, and CO. It actively contributes to the AISES mission in various ways throughout the academic school year. The principles in which AISES of ASU abide by are:
· Community Service
· Outreach
· Collaboration
· Academic Empowerment
· Sociality
The organization is currently creating partnerships with local valley high schools by offering tutoring services for Native American students.
Focusing on outreach, AISES of ASU established an event in which the students travel to the Native American communities in the four corners area, known as “The Rez Tour”. The Rez Tour takes place every Spring semester. During the tour, the students visit various high schools on Native American reservations and promote higher education, while emphasizing the need of Native Americans in the STEM fields.
By collaborating with other student organizations at Arizona State University, AISES has assisted in creating various events focusing on sociality and academic empowerment. The organization has a strong partnership with the Phoenix professional chapter of AISES focusing on the same principles along with other Native American organizations here at ASU.
In past years, AISES of ASU has been known as an Outstanding Organization amongst the ASU "Org World". It looks to upholding that honor and have done so to the best of our capabilities. In the spring of 2012, AISES of ASU hosted the Region 3 Conference. Approximately 150+ high school, college students and professionals came together under the theme "Fostering Indigenous Solutions To Global Challenges".
Every year AISES of ASU works on providing students with the opportunity to attend the AISES National Conference, by fundraising, and promoting scholarship opportunities. One of the main fundraisers is the AISES Frybread sales.
The ASU chapter of AISES will continue to provide events, such as our Study Pow Wows, General Body Meetings, socials, and workshops, that will help students with there education to provide them with the support needed to succeed. AISES is constantly looking for new ways to fulfill it’s mission.
